About This Guide
Jaime has been kayaking (white water) since he was 11 year old and he finds immense Joy in blending the art of white water with Sea Kayaking by honing his skills in rough water sea kayaking. He loves sea kayaking not only for the fun and play it brings in surf and tidal currents but for the freedom it brings on long expedition journeys.
Jaime has travelled much of the worlds beautiful areas by kayak, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, UK and has spent many months on extended trips living from his kayak. The height of his pursuit in sea kayaking was his recent expedition to Svalbard, with a team of three, they completed the worlds first circumnavigation of this remote Northern archipelago in Norway’s high arctic. The expedition took 70 days and covered some 2200 km of paddling, including 160 km of unbroken glacial cliffs. During this extreme Arctic Odyssey they also had to manage continuos interactions with polar bear and walrus. Certainly not an expedition for the feint of heart.
Jaime has worked as a sea kayak guide and instructor in many places, including Canada, Norway, New Zealand, UK, Panama and Belize. He is a recognised Level 3 guide with the Canadian Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia, a BCU 4 Star certified Sea kayaker and is currently working into the ACA system in North America as an instructor.
